Video of 26-Year-Old Hyderabad Doctor’s Final Moments After Jumping Into Sanapur River During Hampi Trip
Hyderabad-based doctor Ananya Rao (26) has gone missing after she jumped into the Tungabhadra River in Sanapur on Wednesday, February 19. Authorities have launched an extensive search operation to locate her.
Rao, who was vacationing with her friends, disappeared around 8:30 AM after being swept away by the river's strong currents. In response, the rural police and fire department initiated a rescue operation, suspending all water activities, including coracle rides and swimming, in the river.

A viral video of the incident has surfaced online, showing Ananya jumping from a rock into the river. She initially surfaced and swam but disappeared moments later.
According to reports, Ananya had traveled to a guest house in Sanapur village with her friends Satvik and Ashita for a weekend retreat. The trio decided to go for a swim in the river, despite warnings from local tour operators about the strong water flow caused by the dam's release.
A tour operator from Sanapur confirmed the incident, stating, "Ananya insisted on jumping without a life jacket, saying she had done similar jumps before. The rock was 20 feet high, and the water flow was strong. While the staff was collecting the life jacket, she jumped. So far, there has been no trace of her."
Extensive Search Operation Underway
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed to assist in the search. Additionally, underwater cameras from local steel plants and factories are being used to aid the operation.
Authorities suspect that Ananya might have been trapped in underwater rock formations, as the river flows through rocky caves in the area. Despite extensive searches by local divers and fire department personnel, no trace of her has been found.
Officials stated that efforts are ongoing to locate Ananya and investigate possible safety lapses at the tourist spot.
