Namma Metro Pink Line Opening Date: 7.5 km Stretch to Open Between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere by 2026
Bengaluru's Namma Metro is rapidly expanding, with the Pink Line set to open in two phases by December 2026. This new corridor promises to enhance connectivity across key city areas and improve the overall commuter experience. According to latest update, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has once again postponed the opening of the elevated Pink Line, extending the deadline to May 2026. As per BMRCL's schedule, the 7.5 km stretch was initially expected to open by the end of 2025 but was later pushed to March 2026.
This section of the line includes six stations - Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM Bangalore, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva, and Tavarekere (Swagat Cross Road). According to officials, construction delays and logistical issues have forced the latest extension.

Jayadeva Interchange to Become Fully Operational
Once the Pink Line becomes operational, it will enable the complete functioning of the Jayadeva Interchange station, a key hub connecting the Pink and Yellow Lines.
The R.V. Road-Bommasandra Yellow Line, which was partially opened in August 2025, is already in use. The 13 km underground section of the Pink Line, from Dairy Circle to Nagawara, is expected to open around December of the same year, along with the Blue Line connecting Silk Board to K.R. Puram.
Prototype Train from BEML Expected by October-End
According to BMRCL officials, the elevated Pink Line will initially operate with three to four train sets.
"The 7.5 km stretch from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere will be commissioned first. BMRCL has signed an agreement with BEML for the supply of 60 train sets for the Pink and Blue Lines under Phase 2A and 2B," an official said.
The prototype train from BEML is expected to arrive by the end of October, after which testing will be carried out at the Kothanur depot and on the Pink Line main track.
Officials said that testing and mandatory approvals could take a few months after the prototype's arrival.
"We will require four train sets for the initial operations of the elevated Pink Line. The line is expected to be operational by May 2026. More trains will be added based on ridership demand," a Metro official said.
