Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) in Bengaluru is a top destination for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. One of the unique aspects of Bannerghatta is the safari where visitors can see wild animals in their natural habitat. Now, Bannerghatta has brought another piece of exciting news for wildlife lovers: it has launched the 'leopard Safari' for the first time.
South India's first and the country's largest leopard safari

This is the first of its kind in South India, and it is the largest leopard safari in the country. The safari is set up in a 20-hectare forest area at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore, offers a high chance of spotting leopards. It is home to 20 leopards. For safety, Bannerghatta Wildlife Sanctuary has taken all necessary precautions, including fencing all around. They have also provided convenient facilities to ensure a hassle-free safari experience.
Although leopard sightings are common in the outskirts of Bengaluru, the thrill of watching leopards in their natural habitat is known only to wildlife enthusiasts. Keeping this in mind, the safari is specially designed to offer leopard sightings. This safari gives everyone the rare opportunity to see leopards up close.
Leopard Population
Bannerghatta has a thriving cheetah population that has been balanced over the years. Leopards that used to attack villages around Bengaluru have been rescued and brought here, increasing their numbers. These leopards roam freely in the natural environment of Bannerghatta, living their usual lifestyle. Hence, this safari is a perfect medium to observe their natural behavior up close.
Bannerghatta also has a zoo where visitors can see various animals and birds, but the safari offers the special experience of observing them in their natural habitat. Another major highlight of Bannerghatta National Park is its Butterfly Park, developed over an area of about 7.5 acres, where visitors can see different types of butterflies. For those who wish to stay overnight, Bannerghatta offers tented cottages and huts. Additionally, a skywalk is being developed for a special view of the biodiversity in Bannerghatta.
