Karnataka Weather Update: Cold Wave Sweeps Bengaluru, With A 10°C Temperature Drop Expected
The people of Bengaluru are experiencing increasingly cold weather as the new year begins. Just stepping outside is enough to feel the chill. The cold is so intense that it almost makes you want to stay home and curl up under a thick blanket. Over the past week, Bengaluru has witnessed a rise in both cold temperatures and dew. The weather department predicts that the temperature in the city will drop further, influenced by cold winds blowing from North India. The average minimum temperature for January is expected to be 15.8 degrees Celsius.
Minimum Temperature to Drop Further

With the minimum temperature forecast to drop by 10 to 12 degrees Celsius next week, Bengaluru is likely to experience even colder weather. This year's winter is expected to be slightly colder than last year. The filling of lakes, rivers, and dams due to increased rainfall is contributing to the heightened chill in the air.
In addition to the cold, an increase in dew is expected, and doctors have advised Bengaluru residents to take extra care of their health. It's recommended to wear thick blankets and sweaters when the cold is severe. With symptoms like cold and cough becoming more common in the current weather, it's advised to consume hot food rather than cold food. Moreover, special attention should be given to children and the elderly, says Dr. Sunil Kumar.
