Karnataka Weather Alert: IMD Says No Relief for Bengaluru’s Rising Temperatures
Bengaluru, often celebrated for its moderate climate, is experiencing an unexpected early onset of summer, with temperatures reaching unusually high levels for February. On Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a maximum temperature of 33.2°C and a minimum of 19.7°C, marking a significant departure from the typical seasonal patterns.
Typically, the transition from winter to summer in Bengaluru begins in March, shortly after the festival of Shivaratri. However, this year, residents are already feeling the impacts of the heat well ahead of schedule, prompting a variety of precautionary measures among those accustomed to the city's milder temperatures.

"I have reduced my exposure to the scorching sun during the afternoon. If I have to go out, I apply sunscreen, carry an umbrella, and a bottle of water," shared Darshini, a college student adapting to the unseasonal heat wave.
As the situation unfolds, IMD officials have issued weather forecasts indicating dry conditions for Bengaluru, in contrast to significant rainfall expected in coastal Karnataka this week. The forecast for Bengaluru suggests partly cloudy skies with morning fog in some areas, remaining mostly dry until February 27. The temperature is expected to maintain similar highs around 33°C, with nighttime lows hanging around 19°C.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast
By February 28 and March 1, there is a possibility of partly cloudy skies, as per the weather department's forecast. After the next four days, temperatures are expected to rise gradually over the following ten days. Evenings and nights may lose their coolness, giving way to warmer conditions.
With the early summer heat gripping the city, Bengaluru's residents are bracing themselves for the months ahead, adjusting their daily routines to cope with the rising temperatures. Whether through clothing choices or hydration strategies, many are finding innovative ways to navigate this unexpected climatic shift.
Temperatures are steadily rising in Bengaluru and across Karnataka. The scorching heat is causing discomfort to residents. Experts advise completing outdoor tasks before 10 AM and rescheduling them after 4 PM to avoid peak heat hours. Due to dry weather conditions, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight should be minimized.
Women, children, and the elderly are advised to stay hydrated and take necessary health precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
