Karnataka Weather Alert: IMD Predicts Rains, Dip In Temperature For Bengaluru This Week
Winter appears to have arrived early in Bengaluru, with temperatures expected to dip further in the coming days. Weather forecasts suggest that the minimum temperature in the city could fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius, potentially making this one of the coldest winters in recent years.
Along with that Bengaluru residents will also experience a weather shift next week, with forecasts predicting rainfall across the city and neighboring regions. This change is expected to break the dry spell Bengaluru has been enduring and will bring the city's rainfall closer to its expected levels for November.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) have confirmed that southern interior and coastal areas of Karnataka, including Bengaluru, will receive rain, helping the region fulfill its overdue November rainfall quota.
Weather System to Impact Bengaluru by November 29
Weather experts are predicting a weather system to pass over Bengaluru on Friday, November 29, according to the Global Forecast System (GFS). This weather system is expected to move from the Nilgiris towards Bengaluru, passing through the Dakshina Kannada Ghats and eventually reaching the Arabian Sea. While forecasts from GFS can sometimes vary in accuracy, the current predictions signal that areas like Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada will see rainfall toward the end of the month.
While the rainfall is a welcome relief for Bengaluru, it could pose challenges for areas like Kodagu and the Karavali coast, which are still recovering from the heavy rains earlier this year. Additional rainfall could exacerbate the ongoing recovery efforts in these regions. In contrast, Bengaluru will experience a much-needed break from the dry conditions that have dominated the city in November. The upcoming showers are expected to bring the city's rainfall closer to its normal monthly levels.
Current Weather in Bengaluru
As of now, Bengaluru is experiencing moderate weather, with temperatures ranging between 16°C and 28°C and a humidity level of 49%. The city is also witnessing northeast winds at 13 km/h, contributing to an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 99, indicating moderate air quality.
According to the KSNDMC, scattered showers are expected not only in Bengaluru but also across the southern interior, coastal, and hilly districts of Karnataka. Meanwhile, the northern interior regions of the state are likely to remain dry.
IMD Weekly Forecast
The IMD's weekly weather forecast for Bengaluru suggests that the city will continue to experience fog and mist during the mornings, followed by partly cloudy skies later in the day. This weather pattern is expected to persist for several days leading up to the anticipated rainfall at the end of November. The temperature is predicted to remain consistent throughout the week, with only minor variations, setting the stage for the expected weather shift.
As Bengaluru and its surrounding areas prepare for the predicted rainfall, residents are eager for the relief the showers will bring. While some regions, particularly in coastal and hilly areas, may face challenges, the overall anticipation for the rainfall remains positive. The showers are expected to provide a refreshing end to the month, offering much-needed respite for Bengaluru's climate and environment.
