Areas including Bagalkot, Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura, and Yadgir may also experience rain accompanied by gusty winds.
For Coastal Karnataka, an orange alert has been issued for August 6 and 7, with the IMD forecasting very heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts.
Meanwhile, airlines issued weather-related travel advisories.
"It is pouring steadily across #Bengaluru, and several key routes are already being affected. This could mean longer, slower journeys to the airport," said IndiGo in a post on X.
"#WeatherUpdate: Due to bad weather (heavy rain) in Bengaluru (BLR), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status," posted SpiceJet.
Travelers heading to Kempegowda International Airport are urged to check their flight status and leave early to avoid delays.
