Karnataka Rains: Heavy Rain In Next 3 Hours For 6 districts, Orange Alert Issued
Heavy downpours are anticipated across several districts in South Karnataka, including Bengaluru, due to the cyclone's impact, causing the meteorological department to issue an orange alert for Chikkamagaluru, Chamarajanagar, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada.
This warning suggests significant weather conditions that could potentially lead to disruptions and damage. Furthermore, a yellow alert has been declared for Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Mysore, and Ramanagara, indicating the possibility of severe weather that requires residents to stay informed and be prepared for potential impacts.

The cyclone is expected to influence weather conditions across northern inland Tamil Nadu, subsequently moving over north Kerala-Karnataka coast along the east-central Arabian Sea. This has led to heavy rainfall predictions for Kodagu district today, with very heavy rain expected at scattered locations in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Chamarajanagar, Shimoga, Chikkamagaluru, and Mysore districts.
Meanwhile, Hassan, Mandya, and Ramnagar districts are likely to witness scattered heavy rainfall, with moderate showers forecasted for most parts of Tumkur, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore City, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, and Kolar districts.
Impact on Education and Forecast for the Coming Days
In response to the heavy rainfall and the resulting adverse weather conditions, local authorities have announced a holiday for schools and colleges in Mandya, Mysore, and Chikkaballapur today. District Collector Shilpa Nag highlighted that due to the continuous rain brought on by Cyclone Fengal, particularly affecting Chamarajanagar district and Kodagu, an official holiday has been declared for all educational institutions in Chamarajanagar district on Tuesday, excluding degree colleges where exams are underway. "A holiday has been announced except for degree colleges where examinations are being conducted," stated District Collector Shilpa Nag.
Looking ahead, heavy rains are expected to continue affecting Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Mysore, Kodagu, Ramanagara, and Chamarajanagar districts. Tumkur, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore City, Chikkaballapur, and Kolar districts are likely to see moderate rainfall, while North Kannada district and South Inland districts can expect light to moderate showers. Raichur district and the rest of the northern interior districts are also forecasted to experience light to moderate rain.
Weather Conditions in Bengaluru and Northern Karnataka
The weather in Bengaluru is forecasted to be generally cloudy with moderate to heavy rain at intervals. The city might also see fog in the morning. The expected maximum and minimum temperatures are 23° C and 20° C, respectively. On the other hand, the interior parts of North Karnataka are experiencing dry weather amidst the ongoing rainfall in other regions of the state.
Regarding Wednesday's weather, light to moderate rain is probable in Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada districts, along with a few places in Yadagiri, Raichur, Chikkamagaluru, Shimoga, Kodagu, Hassan, and Mysore districts. The rest of the interior districts might witness light showers.
