Jog Falls Ticket Prices Surge, Sparking Outrage Among Locals And Tourists
Jog Falls in Karnataka's Shivamogga, a globally renowned tourist destination, has significantly increased its entry fees, causing frustration among both locals and visitors. The Jog Management Authority (JMA)'s plan to transform the site into an international attraction has led to this price hike.
The ambitious development project, aimed at enhancing Jog Falls into a world-class tourist spot, is set to cost Rs 183.7 crore, resulting in a sharp rise in entry fees.

Fees for buses have risen from Rs 150 to Rs 200, and minibuses now cost Rs 150, up from Rs 100. Autorickshaw fares have increased from Rs 30 to Rs 40, and two-wheeler fees have jumped from Rs 20 to Rs 30.
Regular tourists now face a doubled entry fee of Rs 20, while foreign tourists pay Rs 100, up from Rs 50. Additional charges include Rs 100 for camera use and Rs 500 for drone cameras, part of the new fee structure introduced by the Jog Management Authority.
Free entry is still available for persons with disabilities, freedom fighters, ex-servicemen, and media personnel to ensure access for those who have made significant societal contributions.
Visitors now have a restricted two-hour window to explore Jog Falls, and the seasonal fog further limits their experience, causing additional dissatisfaction.
Locals, who previously enjoyed free access, are particularly upset by the new fees, which have made it more difficult for them to visit the falls.
