Estranged Wife Of Bengaluru Techie Arrested After One Phone Call Exposes Her Location
In a dramatic turn of events, Bengaluru police successfully tracked down Nikita Singhania, the estranged wife of techie Atul Subhash, after she inadvertently exposed her location through a mistaken phone call. Nikita, 34, had been eluding arrest for several days following an abetment to suicide case filed against her by Atul's family. Reports indicate that she had been on the run, frequently changing her whereabouts and communicating solely through WhatsApp while attempting to secure anticipatory bail.
Her careful evasion efforts were thwarted when she accidentally dialed a close relative, leaving behind a traceable signal. Authorities promptly traced the call to a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Gurugram, where Nikita had been hiding. Meanwhile, her mother, Nisha Singhania, and brother, Anurag Singhania, were located in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

DCP Kumar told ANI, "Nikita Singhania, the accused, was arrested near Blossom Stayz PG in Gurugram. Her mother, Nisha Singhania, and brother, Anurag Singhania, were detained near Hotel Rameshwaram in Prayagraj, UP. They were subsequently brought to Bengaluru and presented before the judge, who remanded them to judicial custody. Multiple teams were sent to various locations to track them down."
After her detention in Gurugram, Nikita was required to contact her mother, enabling the police to trace Nisha and Anurag to Jhusi, a town in Prayagraj. Along with Sushil Singhania, a fourth accused who remains at large, the trio has been remanded to judicial custody for two weeks.
During the interrogation, Nikita vehemently denied all allegations of harassment. She contended that she herself had been the victim of mistreatment, countering claims made in Atul's 24-page suicide note and an accompanying 80-minute video. In his note, Atul alleged that Nikita and her family had extorted ₹3 crore by filing false dowry and cruelty claims against him.
The tragic demise of Atul Subhash, found dead last Monday, has thrust his family's legal turmoil into the spotlight. Atul's brother, Bikas Kumar, subsequently filed a complaint that led to the abetment-to-suicide case against Nikita and her family.
In the wake of this tragedy, Atul's father, Pawan Kumar Modi, has made public appeals, reaching out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and others for the custody of his grandson. Pawan Kumar Modi has urged for the child's immediate return to his care following the devastating loss of his son.
