Dasara Holidays 2024: Karnataka Announces Dussehra Holidays For School, When Will It Reopen?
Dasara Holidays 2024: The Karnataka Department of Public Education has officially declared Dasara holidays for students in government and private schools for the academic year 2024-25. The state government is making grand preparations for the upcoming Dussehra festival, with holidays set from October 3 to 20, allowing students a total of 17 days off.
In a notable shift from previous years, the announcement ensures that there will be no changes to the holiday schedule across the state, including the Mangaluru region, which had seen adjustments in the past. This uniformity aims to provide consistency for all schools in Karnataka.

The academic year commenced on May 29, with the first term scheduled to conclude on October 2. Intermediate examinations are set to begin on September 23 and will run until September 30. Following the exams, students will be able to relax and celebrate the festival starting the day after Gandhi Jayanti.
The Dasara holidays will begin on October 3, just after the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations on October 2. The second academic term is set to start on October 21, continuing until April 10, 2025. The Department of Public Education had previously released the school year guidelines, which included these holiday provisions. Notably, there will only be 11 school days in October due to the extended holiday period.
As the holidays approach, parents, particularly those who have migrated from villages to urban areas, are preparing to send their children back home. Children are eagerly planning trips to visit their grandparents and relatives. Many parents are also considering family trips, as they have been unable to take their children out during the school term.
