Couple Harassed In Bengaluru Over Interfaith Interaction; Five Arrested
Officials confirmed on Friday that a group of five men harassed and attacked a couple who were sitting on a scooter outside a Bengaluru park. The man and woman were sitting facing each other when a group of men approached them. The incident was caught on camera and has since gone viral.
The video shows the woman in a burqa and the man in an orange t-shirt fighting with the group. While others question the woman about whether her family knows where she is, one of the men can be seen filming her. The group then asks the man if he would consider dating a woman who practices a different religion, subjecting

At one point in the video, the men ask the woman if she has "any shame" and threaten her, questioning her character for sitting with a man while wearing a burqa.
Five people confronted the couple while they were sitting on a scooter. The complainant was a woman in a burqa. Her complaint has led to the registration of a case, and an investigation is currently in progress," stated Deputy Commissioner of Police Girish.
Despite the police's initial claim that there was no physical violence, another video surfaced that purportedly showed the accused encircling the man and striking him with what looked to be a wooden stick. All five of the accused, including one minor, have been placed under arrest in connection with the complaint.
The main thing they wanted to know was why the woman was sitting there. As the investigation progresses, we will learn more information," DCP Girish continued.
Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge issued a statement regarding the incident, denouncing the act and cautioning against moral policing in any form. "This is not Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, or Bihar. As a progressive state, Karnataka will not put up with such conduct," he declared.
