BMTC Bus Driver Suffers Fits, Causes Accidents Near Chinnaswamy Stadium

Bengaluru witnessed chaos on Saturday afternoon when a BMTC bus collided with nine vehicles near the Chinnaswamy Stadium, reportedly after the driver suffered a seizure while driving.

The serial collision occurred near Gate Number 9 of the stadium, involving three autorickshaws, three cars, and several two-wheelers. The impact caused panic among motorists and pedestrians in the busy area.

The bus, traveling between Kempegowda International Airport and Banashankari, lost control when the 25-year-old driver, Lokesh, suffered a sudden seizure. This caused the vehicle to crash into nine other vehicles ahead.

According to eyewitnesses, the BMTC bus suddenly swerved out of control, ramming into multiple vehicles one after another. "The bus was moving normally and suddenly veered off the lane, hitting autos and cars parked by the roadside," said a commuter present at the scene.

One auto driver sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and is said to be in critical condition.

Preliminary reports suggest that the bus driver suffered fits (seizure), leading to the loss of control over the vehicle. The Cubbon Park Traffic Police promptly reached the spot, cleared the wreckage, and restored traffic flow.

The driver has been taken into police custody for further inquiry, and the BMTC management has been informed about the incident.

Traffic movement in the area was affected for over an hour before the road was reopened.

A case has been filed at the Cubbon Park traffic police station, and the bus has been seized. The driver is currently being questioned, a traffic police official said.
