A screenshot of the listing, shared on X, offered further insight into the applicant pool. Of the total applications, 74% were from entry-level professionals, while 13% were senior-level candidates.

In terms of education, 86% held a bachelor's degree, and 12% possessed a master's degree. These statistics have fuelled debates regarding the increasing competition for jobs and the sheer volume of candidates vying for a single vacancy.

The post was captioned, "1 opening, 13,451 applicants."

The overwhelming response led to intense online discussions, with users speculating about the reasons behind such a large influx of applications. Some attributed it to widespread layoffs and economic uncertainty, while others pointed to the surge of fresh graduates entering the job market.

One user commented, "This is sad because it makes it a résumé competition. Hiring is more about a person's character than their current skills on paper. A person with strong character will accomplish more than a PhD with a sour attitude. No way they find the best applicant by searching through 13k applications."

Another remarked, "I have tried to hire people, trust me when I say 50% blindly apply, 30% don't even have the right skills, 15% don't pick up your calls, 5% will reject offers in the end."

A third user suggested, "Just start your own company, at this point you have a better chance of succeeding than getting a job."

A fourth added, "Not a big deal, the 'easily apply' button has done this job. Not even 5% of these people will seriously consider it if they get called for an interview-they just apply for whatever is available."
