Bhadra-TBM Reaches Milestone at Nagawara, Signaling Near Completion of Bengaluru's Namma Metro Pink Line

In a significant development for Bengaluru's metro infrastructure, the Bhadra Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) made a breakthrough today at the Southbound Tunnel of Nagawara Namma metro Station. This achievement marks the completion of 937 meters from K.G. Halli, which was launched on April 2, 2024. The successful breakthrough signifies the final stage in the underground tunneling of Reach-6 Line under Pink Line (Phase 2) of the project, bringing the total underground tunneling to 20,992 meters, achieving a 100% completion rate.

The extensive tunneling work involved the deployment of nine TBMs, all of which have now completed their designated tunneling between the South Ramp (Dairy Circle) and Nagawara Station.

The first TBM, named Urja, was launched on August 20, 2020, from Cantonment to Shivajinagar Station, paving the way for the ambitious metro expansion. Notably, TBM Urja set a record for the maximum tunneling done in a single day, achieving 27 meters on April 25, 2022, between Cantonment and Pottery Town Station.

Additionally, TBM Tunga recorded the highest monthly tunneling rate of 308 meters between K.G. Halli and Nagawara in July 2024, showcasing the efficiency and progress of the tunneling operations.
