The much-anticipated first train for the Namma Metro Yellow Line has been officially flagged off today, January 6, from West Bengal. Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, attended the milestone event virtually from New Delhi, marking a key development in the rollout of the Yellow Line for Bengaluru's metro system. The first photos of the train's dispatch have also been revealed, marking a key development in the rollout of the Yellow Line for Bengaluru's metro system.

Developed by Kolkata-based Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), this first trainset will run on the 18.82 km-long Yellow Line, offering a much-needed transportation solution for the city. The new line promises to provide relief from Bengaluru's notorious traffic congestion, significantly reducing commute times and improving connectivity across crucial areas.

The trial run for the Namma Metro Yellow Line will commence once the first trainset, arriving from West Bengal, reaches Karnataka. This trial phase will assess various technical parameters of the train to ensure its readiness for public service.

Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) is scheduled to deliver the second train by the end of January or early February, with the third train arriving in April. Following this, the company will deliver one train per month, ramping up production to two trains per month by September.

The Namma Metro Yellow Line will feature 18 stations, including RV Road, Ragigudda, Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Central Silk Board, Bommanahalli, Hongasandra, Kudlu Gate, Singasandra, Hosa Road, Beratena Agrahara, Electronic City, Konnapana Agrahara, Husker Road, and Hebbagodi.

The official opening of the Yellow Line will be announced by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) once it deems that the trial runs and other evaluations are complete. The commercial launch is anticipated soon.

The Yellow Line holds significant importance as it connects Electronic City, a hub for approximately 200 IT and ITES companies, including industry giants like Infosys, Wipro, TCS, HCL, Tech Mahindra, and Biocon, among others. This addition will provide much-needed relief for commuters traveling to and from these key business areas.
