Bengaluru Traffic Alert: Roads Closed, Parking Curbs in Place Ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s Visit on August 8

With Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi scheduled to visit Bengaluru on Friday, August 8, city authorities have issued a traffic alert due to the expected large turnout for the Congress party's "vote theft" rally at Freedom Park.

Roads Affected:

The Bengaluru City Traffic Police have announced restrictions and diversions on key roads, including:

MG Road

Cubbon Road

Old Airport Road

Chalukya Road

Shantala Junction and surrounding areas

Commuters are advised to avoid these stretches between 10 AM and 4 PM on Friday and use alternate routes wherever possible.

Parking Restrictions:

In addition to road curbs, parking has been restricted in multiple zones near the rally site and along key approach roads. Authorities have urged citizens to use public transport to ease congestion.

Congress Protest Rally Details:

The rally, initially planned for August 5 but postponed due to the demise of JMM leader Shibu Soren, will be held at Freedom Park.
Rahul Gandhi will be joined by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM D K Shivakumar, and other senior party leaders.

Deputy CM Shivakumar stated that every assembly constituency in and around Bengaluru will send at least 50 party leaders, including ministers and defeated candidates, to the rally. The event is expected to draw thousands of supporters, and security will be tight around central Bengaluru.

Avoid travel to Central Business District (CBD) areas if not essential.

Metro services and BMTC buses are expected to run on schedule but may experience delays near Freedom Park.

Heavy vehicle movement may be curtailed in affected zones.
