Bengaluru Techie’s Suicide: Atul Subhash's Wife Nikita Singhania’s Denies Extortion Claims

In the tragic case of Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash's suicide, his estranged wife, Nikita Singhania, has denied allegations of harassment mentioned in his suicide note. During police interrogation, Nikita claimed she had been living apart from Atul for nearly three years.

"If I were harassing him for money, why would I keep my distance?" she supposedly told the police, as reported by TOI.

Nikita Singhania (29) was arrested alongside her mother, Nisha, and brother, Anurag (27), in connection with the abetment to suicide case. Another accused, 70-year-old Sushil Singhania, whose role is still being investigated, was also named in the FIR, police said.

Atul Subhash died by suicide on December 9, leaving a detailed suicide note and video accusing Nikita and her family of harassment and extortion. The police have launched a thorough investigation and stated they would file a chargesheet if evidence corroborates Atul's claims.

This case follows a history of legal disputes between the couple. In 2022, Nikita filed a police complaint accusing Atul of dowry harassment and assault, alleging that his family's demands for an additional ₹10 lakh caused significant stress and contributed to her father's health decline, ultimately leading to his death.

Nikita detailed that her marriage to Atul on April 26, 2019, quickly turned turbulent, with disputes arising over wedding gifts and escalating demands from Atul's family.

In contrast, Atul accused Nikita and her family of demanding ₹3 crore to withdraw legal cases against him and an additional ₹30 lakh for visitation rights to see their son. He also claimed that Nikita initially sought ₹1 crore in maintenance, later raising the demand to ₹3 crore.

Nikita was arrested in Gurugram, Haryana, while her mother and brother were taken into custody in Allahabad. All three were transported to Bengaluru, underwent medical examinations, and were presented before a magistrate early Sunday morning. They have been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody at Central Prison, Parappana Agrahara.
