Bengaluru Resumes Towing of Illegally Parked Vehicles Across 22 Corridors And 75 Junctions
The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) is preparing to restart vehicle towing in no-parking zones in designated areas throughout the city. This initiative will be enforced on 22 heavily trafficked corridors and at 75 major junctions, including prominent spots in the Central Business District (CBD).
Home Minister G. Parameshwara announced this decision during the inauguration of the Bengaluru Traffic Police Museum at the Traffic Management Centre on Wednesday. He noted that the initiative is designed to enhance road discipline and curb illegal parking that disrupts traffic flow.

"Towing was in effect previously but was halted for various reasons. However, there has been strong demand for its reinstatement, and the government has opted to reintroduce it in specific locations," he explained.
Bengaluru had put its towing policy on hold in February 2022 after motorists reported issues of harassment by towing staff. At that time, the government promised that hauling away vehicles would remain paused until a revised policy could be formulated.

The Home Minister discussed the decision to allow vehicles inside Cubbon Park, stating it was made for public convenience. Previously, vehicle access was restricted on the second and fourth Saturdays, as well as certain public holidays. Under the new policy, vehicles will now be allowed entry between 7 PM and 10 PM on these specific days, while the rule permitting traffic on the first and third Saturdays remains unchanged.
