Bengaluru Police Debunk Serial Killer Rumors, Identify Indiranagar Slashing Spree Suspect

After viral social media reports suggested a serial killer was on the loose in Bengaluru, city police have debunked the claims, confirming that there is no serial killer. This clarification comes after a slashing spree in Indiranagar left four people injured.

The suspect has been identified as Kadamba, a rowdy-sheeter at the Indiranagar Police Station. Authorities have launched a manhunt, forming four special teams to track him down.

"A total of four persons were stabbed by the man. We have registered four FIRs. We have identified him. Efforts are on to track him down," a senior police official confirmed.

The residents' association I Change Indiranagar, a federation of local RWAs, also urged people not to panic, reassuring them that police are actively handling the situation.

Indiranagar Slashing Spree: Four People Attacked

The attacker, described as wearing a red T-shirt, white pants, and a black cap, targeted four individuals in a brutal knife attack on the night of February 8.

  • First attack (9:30 p.m.) - Jaswanth, 19, was out on his scooter to fetch drinking water when the knife-wielding suspect forced his way onto the vehicle and demanded a right turn. When Jaswanth refused, he slashed his throat and fled.
  • Second attack - Deepak Kumar, 24, a pani puri vendor, was next. When he informed the suspect that his stall was closing, the attacker waited until other customers left before slashing his neck.
  • Third attack - Thammaiah, 44, another pani puri vendor, was also attacked. After eating at his stall, the suspect refused to pay and slashed his throat.
  • Fourth attack - A passerby was later attacked in a similar fashion.

All four victims suffered neck injuries but were rushed to private hospitals by bystanders. Police confirmed that while the injuries were severe, all victims are now out of danger.

Notorious Rowdy-Sheeter Identified as Attacker

CCTV footage helped police identify the attacker as Kadamba, a Jogupalya resident.

"A rowdy sheet was opened against him in May 2024, and preventive actions were taken. He has six pending cases, including one for burglary, two for assault, and three for robbery. He has a history of committing mobile thefts under the influence of alcohol and frequently engages in petty disputes with neighbors," a senior police official stated.

Police Launch Manhunt, Urge Public to Stay Alert

With Kadamba still at large, police have ramped up search efforts and urged the public to remain vigilant but not alarmed. Residents are advised to report suspicious activity immediately to authorities.
