Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway: Congress Leader Attacks Woman Staff After Refusing To Pay Toll

A dramatic incident unfolded at the toll plaza on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway in Srirangapatna taluk, Mandya district, when a man claiming to be a Congress leader refused to pay the toll. The altercation escalated when a woman accompanying him allegedly attacked a female toll booth staffer.

The SUV, registered as KA 07 M 8164, displayed a sign identifying the man as a member of the Congress Guarantee Committee. He was traveling from Bengaluru to Mysuru when toll plaza staff stopped his vehicle for payment. Instead of paying, the man allegedly began arguing, claiming exemption from the toll due to his party's presence in government.

Eyewitnesses reported that the man got out of the vehicle and loudly declared, "Our party is in government, I am a Congress leader." However, toll staff explained that exemptions only applied to official government representatives, not party members. This led to a heated verbal exchange between the two parties.

The situation took a violent turn when the woman accompanying the Congress leader stepped out of the car and allegedly assaulted a female staffer. Eyewitnesses stated that she pulled the staffer's hair and grabbed her wrist during the attack.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras. Despite the altercation, the Congress leader's vehicle was allowed to pass without paying. Local police, who arrived at the scene, did not take immediate action against the Congress leader or his companion.

A case has been registered at the Srirangapatna Gramantara police station against both individuals involved. The police have assured further action based on the CCTV footage, and an investigation is underway.
