Bengaluru Murder Case: Mahalakshmi Took Money, Gold And Harassed My Brother, Claims Mukthirajan Roy's Family

The tragic demise of Mahalakshmi in Bengaluru, who was gruesomely murdered on September 3, has taken a new turn with revelations from the family of the prime suspect, Mukthiranjan Roy. Before taking his own life, Roy disclosed to his brother the pressure he faced from Mahalakshmi, including blackmail and financial extortion. According to Roy's younger brother, Mahalakshmi had been extracting large sums of money and gold from Roy, leading him to financial distress. Roy's family was upset with him for not being able to contribute financially due to these circumstances.

Following the discovery of Mahalakshmi's body, which had been dismembered and stored in a refrigerator, the investigation quickly led to Roy, a resident of Bhadrak district in Odisha. Prior to his suicide, Roy had been in hiding, staying with his brother in Berhampur. During his final days, he confided in his brother about the murder, explaining that Mahalaxmi's continuous blackmail and threats had driven him to commit the act in a moment of anger.

Bhadrak SP Varun Guntupalli disclosed that Bengaluru Police had traced Roy to Odisha in an attempt to apprehend him. However, Roy succumbed to the fear of arrest and ended his life by hanging near a crematorium in Bhuinpur village. Found alongside his body was a suicide note inside a book, where Roy admitted to the murder and expressed his fear of capture. This note further confirmed the motives behind his drastic actions.

Roy's brother detailed a disturbing pattern of harassment by Mahalakshmi, including an incident where she falsely accused him of kidnapping, leading to a public assault and police bribery for his release. Additionally, threats from Mahalakshmi's brothers were mentioned, stating harm would come to Roy and his brother if Mahalakshmi's demands were not met. On the day of the murder, Roy had apparently been summoned by Mahalakshmi, who threatened him once more, leading to the fatal confrontation.
