Bengaluru LPG Woes: Residents Say Gas Agencies Unresponsive for Nearly Two Days

Several Bengaluru households say they are facing growing difficulty in booking or tracking domestic LPG cylinders, with many claiming that local gas agencies have been unreachable for nearly 48 hours. The complaints come at a time when disruptions in the supply of commercial cylinders are already affecting availability in parts of the city.

Residents across multiple neighbourhoods say repeated calls to agency numbers have gone unanswered, while some online booking platforms have shown unusual booking records or delivery confirmations that customers say never actually happened.

Booking Records Raise Questions

Priya Sharma, a resident of Electronic City, said she tried for hours to contact her LPG distributor earlier this week after failing to place a new booking.

"When I opened the booking app, it showed that I had already received a cylinder recently, so a new order could not be placed," she said. "But I hadn't ordered one at all."

After checking her booking history, Sharma claims she discovered several cylinders had been booked under her account in recent days. She said the discovery left her confused about how the entries appeared without her knowledge.

Delivery Messages Without Cylinders

In another instance, Rohan Mehta from Yelahanka said he finally managed to book a cylinder online earlier this week after repeated attempts.

However, the next day he received a message confirming that the cylinder had already been delivered.

"I got an SMS saying the cylinder was delivered successfully, but nothing came to my house," he said. "I've been trying to reach the agency since then, but no one is answering the phone."

Complaints From Several Parts of the City

Similar concerns have surfaced from residents living in Sarjapur Road, HSR Layout, Jayanagar, Malleshwaram and Vijayanagar, where people say agency contact numbers appear inactive or constantly unavailable.

Some households say they are also not receiving the usual delivery schedule messages after placing bookings.

Arun Kumar, who lives near RT Nagar, said his family normally receives a delivery update soon after placing a booking.

"This time we didn't receive any delivery message at all, and the agency phone numbers are not working," he said. "We are not sure if the booking has even gone through."

Rising Dependence on Informal Supply

With uncertainty around regular deliveries, a few residents claim they have started exploring informal sources to obtain cylinders.

According to some households, cylinders in the unofficial market are being offered at prices ranging from Rs 1,700 to nearly Rs 3,000, significantly higher than regular domestic LPG rates.

There are also concerns among residents that some domestic LPG cylinders could be getting diverted to commercial users, where demand has increased amid supply disruptions.

As complaints continue to emerge, many residents are urging LPG distributors and oil companies to clarify the situation and restore normal communication channels.

For households that rely heavily on LPG for daily cooking, uncertainty around bookings and deliveries has created anxious waiting periods, with many families unsure when their next cylinder will arrive.
