Bengaluru–Ernakulam Vande Bharat Express to Start Mid-Nov, Check Full Route, Station List and Travel Duration

The Bengaluru-Kochi Vande Bharat Express is set to meet the rising travel demand during the festive season. This new semi-high-speed service will be the third Vande Bharat Express in Kerala, joining the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod and Thiruvananthapuram-Mangaluru routes. Operating between Bengaluru and Ernakulam Junction, the train aims to strengthen regional connectivity and passenger convenience.

Timings and Schedule

As per the Railway Board notification, the Bengaluru-Ernakulam Vande Bharat Express will depart Bengaluru at 5:10 am and arrive at Ernakulam Junction by 1:50 pm. The return journey will begin at 2:20 pm from Ernakulam, reaching Bengaluru at 11:00 pm. This schedule ensures smooth day-time travel in one direction and convenient evening return for commuters.

The train will operate six days a week, with Wednesday as the maintenance day.

The train will halt at several major stations en route, including:

• Krishnarajapuram - 5.25 a.m.
• Salem - 8.15 a.m.
• Erode - 9.05 a.m.
• Tiruppur - 9.47 a.m.
• Coimbatore - 10.35 a.m.
• Palakkad - 11.30 a.m.
• Thrissur - 12.30 p.m.

This carefully planned route connects key commercial and residential centres, benefiting passengers travelling for work, business, or leisure.

Launch Plans and Festive Demand

The Southern Railway and South Western Railway zones have been instructed to operationalize the service promptly. An inaugural special service may run initially, with full operations likely to commence by mid-November. This rollout coincides with increased travel during Diwali and Christmas, addressing the surge in passenger traffic.

BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar emphasized the importance of this new service, noting that Malayalis often face challenges during peak seasons. "This Vande Bharat will bring major relief for those travelling between Kerala and Bengaluru," he said.

Earlier in August, the Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express was launched by South Western Railway (SWR), significantly cutting down travel time and boosting regional mobility.
