Bangalore University's unique feat: Exams over by 2.00 pm, result out at 4.30 pm
In 1998, most of the engineering colleges across Karnataka were brought under VTU, but a few still remained under other universities in the state.
Bengaluru, July 3: The Bangalore University has achieved a record of sorts by decalring the results of BE (Civil Engineering) results within 2.5 hrs of the last exam getting over. This feat, achieved on Monday (July 3), left the students of the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) with surprised and elated.
The exams for 7th and 8th semesters of BE (Civil Engineering) were conducted over 10 days with the last exam being held on Monday. UVCE is the only engineering college under Bangalore University as most of the other colleges in the city are affiliated to VTU.

"As many as 139 students took the exams. For the first time in BU's history, results have been announced in such a short time. Otherwise, they are announced after a gap of eight to 15 days," a TOI report quoted Professor C Shivaraju, registrar (evaluation), BU, as saying.
This feat could be achieved becasue the university staff did not wait for students to first finish writing all the exams before starting the evaluation process. The evaluation of exams that were held over the ten days were done as and when the students finished writing them. So, that left teachers with just one subject to evaluate on Monday.
BU vice-chancellor KR Venugopal, who is also a former principal of UVCE, congratulated the college staff and members of BU evaluation wing for announcing the results in record time. The TOI report said.
