Aero India 2025: Polish Defence Giant WB Group Signs MoU with L&T to Develop Autonomous Drone Capabilities
Polish defence titan WB Group has made a strong impact at Aero India 2025, strengthening its foothold in India's defence sector. Through its joint venture, WB India, the company has secured a major collaboration with Larsen & Toubro (L&T), signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the event. This partnership marks a crucial step in advancing collaborative autonomy solutions for unmanned aerial platforms, reinforcing India's push for cutting-edge defence technology and indigenous capability development.

The agreement highlights the growing interest in next-generation Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) technologies for India's armed forces and reinforces the country's broader push for self-reliance in critical military capabilities. The collaboration will focus on collaborative autonomy, an advanced approach that enables multiple drones to operate in coordination with minimal human intervention. This technology is expected to enhance surveillance, reconnaissance, and operational effectiveness for the three services, particularly in contested environments where networked drone capabilities could offer strategic advantages.
India is fast emerging as a key market for drone technologies, driven by border security challenges and increasing investments in indigenous defence solutions. WB Group, long considered a global leader in unmanned systems, has expanded its footprint in India, aligning with the government's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative to reduce dependence on foreign defence imports. The company's FlyEye reconnaissance drones have already been demonstrated in India, with Indian Army procurement efforts pointing to growing demand for advanced UAV platforms.
With Aero India 2025 coming to a close today, the MoU highlights India's increasing focus on integrating autonomous and unmanned systems into its military doctrine. As global defence firms expand their presence in India's rapidly evolving security landscape, WB India and L&T's partnership positions them at the forefront of developing cutting-edge indigenous solutions for the country's defence sector.
