Make hartal a success: Left parties
New Delhi, Jun 4: The Left parties urged to all sections to make the twelve-hours hartal on Monday, Jun 5 a big success and show their protest against UPA government's policies, reports a leading newspaper.
The four Left Parties, in a joined statement, confessed their hope to give a message to the government to review its policies regarding the price hike through the hartal, which may compell them to roll back the decontrol of fuel prices and stop any move for further decontrol.
The statement was signed by the general secretaries of the four Left parties which include Prakash Karat (Communist Party of India- Marxist), AB Bardhan (CPI), Debabrata Biswas (All India Forward Bloc) and TJ Chandrachoodan (the Revolutionary Socialist Party).
The bandh was called by these parties along with other secular, democratic and Opposition parties.
The essential services including hospitals, milk and water supply were exempted from hartal. The call for hartal was especially directed at the transport industry, the trading community, student organisations, teachers and workers of all categories.
