Two army jawans detained for raping Pune girl
Pune, Apr 9: In a major embarrassment for the Indian Army, two jawans have been detained for allegedly raping a college girl.
According to media reports, the two detained armymen allegedly gang raped the 19-year-old Pune girl near Swaraj garden.
Quoting police officials, news reports state that the armymen first beat up the girl's boyfriend, who was sitting with her, and then took turns to rape the girl.
The men reportedly took away the girl's mobile phone and asked her to come back the next day to collect it. Using this to trap the accused, the police managed to nab the two armymen on Friday, Apr 9 morning.
The arrested have been identified as Rajneesh Kumar Sureshchandra, hailing from Uttar Pradesh and Suminder Singh Mahipal Singh, from Rajasthan.
The medical report of the victim is still awaited.
This comes a week after the shocking Apr 1 gang rape of an MBA student in a car by three men.
