Five scrap workers hospitalized after exposure to harmful radiation in Delhi
New Delhi, Apr 9 (ANI): Five persons have been hospitalized with burn injuries after being exposed to radiation at a scrap dealer's shop in West Delhi.
According to police, access to the shop has been stopped as a precaution.
The scrap yard owner and three workers were admitted with burnt hands, loss of hair, vomiting and broken fingernails.
A case of negligence has been registered against unknown persons.
Teams from the Bhaba Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Mumbai and the Narora Atomic Research Centre in Delhi have arrived at the site to investigate the extent of radiation.
Earlier scientists from the Crisis Management Group of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and Atomic Energy Regulation Board had also carried out a survey on the extent of radiation. (ANI)
