Russian rape case: John Fernandes surrenders
Panaji, Jan 6: In a significant development in the Russian Rape Case, accused John Fernandes surrenders before the Goa crime branch on Wednesday, Jan 6.
The Goa-based politician has been evading arrest after his anticipatory was rejected by the Bombay High Court in Dec 2009.
Fernandes, who has been accused of raping a Russian girl after spiking her drink, came out of hiding following a stern warning from the Supreme Court on Tuesday, Jan 4.
"He has surrendered today (Wednesday). He will be produced before a magistrate within the stipulated 24 hours," a senior crime branch official said.
Police officers are refusing to divulge further into next course of action.
