Omar Abdullah seeks EU's cooperation to increase employability
Srinagar, Mar 1(ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has sought the cooperation of the European Union (EU) to address the increasing unemployment problem in this state.
Abdullah, who held talks with a delegation of the European Commission led by Daniele Smadja on Saturday, asked for a closer partnership with the union in the development of Small and Medium Entreprises sector in the state.
He also urged the union members to use their influence for withdrawing the travel advisories for Jammu and Kashmir issued by some European countries as the situation in the State has significantly improved.
Describing Abdullah as a role model for young Indian politicians and Indians abroad, the European Union Commission, appreciated Abdullah's efforts on development of Jammu and Kashmir.
The European Union is an economic and political union of 27 member states, located primarily in Europe.
The EU has developed a single market through a standardised system of laws which apply in all member states, guaranteeing the freedom of movement of people, goods, services and capital.
It has developed a role in justice and home affairs, including the abolition of passport controls between many member states under the Schengen Agreement, which incorporates also non-EU states. (ANI)
