Haryana: Unruly Kawariyas lathicharged

Rewari, Aug 7: Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse a group of &34;Kawariyas&34; who became unruly after three of them were crushed to death by a speeding truck at Manesar in Gurgoan district this morning.

The devotees blocked the Delhi-Jaipur Road in the wake of mishap and stoned police vehicles, ignoring the appeals to disperse. They set fire to the jeep of deputy superintendent of police and a truck.

Police lathicharged the devotees and arrested 12 &34;Kawariyas&34; from the spot. The &34;Kawariyas&34;, carrying sacred water the Ganga river at Haridwar, were going towards Rajasthan.

The driver of truck fled from the site of the accident.
