National Highways in State will be four and six lanes: Bhujbal
Mumbai, May 16 (UNI) State Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Chhagan Bhujbal today announced that the Central transport department has given a go ahead to extend the national highways in the State to 4 and 6 lanes.
The lanes of the highways between Mumbai-Nashik-Dhule, Mumbai-Goa, Pune-Kolhapur, Nagpur-Amravati and Aurangabad-Beed will be extended.
Mr Bhujbal said Mumbai-Nashik-Dhule highway and the 23-km Bhiwandi bypass road will be extended from 6 lanes to 8 lanes.
Similarly, the 100-km road from Vadpe to Gonde will be extended to a 6 lane road from a 4 lane one. The 60-km road from Gonde to Pimpalgaon will be a 6 lane road and a 5.7 km over bridge will be constructed on it, he said.
In the high profile meeting, presided over by Central Minister T R Baalu, and attended by MP's Devidas Pingle and Basant More, and officials from the Central and the State deparment of transport, it was decided that the 125 km, 4 lane road from Pimpalgaon to Dhule that is under construction, will be turned into a 6 lane one and the 97-km road from Dhule to the State border will be a 4 lane one.
The proposal for making the Pune-Satara-Kolhapur on National Highway 4 and the 34.25 km bypass, 110-km long Pune-Satara road, and the 133-km long Satara-Kagal road into a 6 lane one, was also passed in today's meeting.
The 120-km Dahisar to Talasari {near the State border} on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway 8 will be constructed into a 6 lane one and will be constructed under the aegis of the national highway.
The PWD Minister in a press statement stated that the 84-km road from Panvel to Indapur on the Mumbai-Goa national Highway will be under construction very soon and the construction of the 136-km lane from Indapur to Chiplun and the 230-km road from Chiplun to Jharap will be constructed at the earliest.
The construction of the Jhadap to Patradevi road will be undertaken soon because the permission for the same was given late.
The road on the Nagpur to Amravati National Highway {Nagpur to Talegaon belt} will be a 4 lane one and the 58-km road from Talegaon to Amravati will be surveyed soon and the construction will start soon, the release stated.
The statement also stated that the survey on the 372-km road from Dhule to Amravati, and 140 km road from Aurangabad to Beed has started after the clearance in today's meeting. In addition to the construction of a 4 lane road on the Pune-Nashik Highway, a 30-km road from Pune has been constructed and the survey on the 31-km road from Nashik to Sinnor has started and the remanining 135-km road will be a 4 lane one, the statement added.
