Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan posted congratulations on Facebook for Team India and Sanju Samson. "Our team has hoisted the flag of victory at the pinnacle of world cricket by winning the title on home soil. This historic win in the thrilling final against New Zealand is as deep as the heartbeat of every Indian, he said.\"

\"Malayali star Sanju Samsons splendid performance in this World Cup victory is a matter of great pride for every Malayali, he said.\" Vijayan also credited talent and hard work for Samson’s rise. Vijayan noted the Player of the Tournament award. \"Heartfelt congratulations to world champions Team India and to Sanju, who played a decisive role in the victory, Vijayan said.\"

Other Kerala leaders also posted short messages online after the final. General Education Minister V Sivankutty shared a picture of Samson. Sivankutty wrote, \"Our Boy.\" Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan posted, \"Once again Sanju Samson.\" Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala wrote, \"Proud of Sanju Samson.\"

Industries Minister P Rajeev also congratulated the team on Facebook after the win. Rajeev wrote, \"Champions… Congratulations to Team India for winning the T20 title by comprehensively defeating New Zealand.\" Across Vizhinjam, the celebrations continued into the night. The win kept focus on Samson’s innings and the town’s pride.
