WPL 2026 Full Schedule: Royal Challengers Bengaluru To Take On Mumbai Indians In Tournament Opener

The fourth season of the Women's Premier League (WPL) begins with an exciting match between the reigning champions, Mumbai Indians, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, and the 2024 winners, Royal Challengers Bengaluru. This opening match will take place on January 9 at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Unlike previous years, this edition of the WPL will conclude with a final on a Thursday, specifically February 5. This change avoids a scheduling conflict with the men's T20 World Cup starting the same week in India and Sri Lanka. The T20 World Cup kicks off with a game between Pakistan and the Netherlands on February 7 in Colombo.

Women's Premier League Format

The league maintains its familiar format, featuring five teams: Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants, and Delhi Capitals. Each team plays the others twice in a double round-robin. The top-ranked team directly advances to the final, while the second and third teams compete in an Eliminator for the other final spot.

In a first for the tournament, the WPL will be held during January and February. Previously, the competition took place in February and March, often overlapping with international fixtures and just before the IPL.
