Delhi School Faces Action After Alleged Molestation Of Nursery Student

A Delhi school in West Delhi has come under serious scrutiny after allegations of molestation involving a nursery student triggered outrage among parents and authorities. Following the complaint, the Delhi government's Directorate of Education (DoE) issued a show-cause notice to the school management and warned that its recognition could be cancelled if serious lapses are confirmed.

In its notice, the Directorate said the alleged incident taking place within school premises during school hours points to "grave administrative failure" and raises major concerns over student safety. Officials noted that such negligence can have a long-term impact on the physical and mental well-being of young children.

During the investigation, the Education Department reportedly found major flaws in the school's CCTV surveillance system. Several sensitive areas either lacked cameras entirely or had non-functional equipment, which the department described as a direct violation of safety norms.

According to officials, repeated complaints regarding the school's security arrangements and administrative functioning had surfaced earlier as well. However, the management allegedly failed to strengthen monitoring systems or introduce adequate safety measures despite warnings.

One of the most serious findings in the probe relates to the operation of nursery and pre-primary classes at a separate location nearly one kilometre away from the school's main campus. The Directorate stated that the premises were being run on private land that was not part of the officially allotted campus and had no approval from competent authorities.

The department said running classes for small children at an unauthorised location without formal permission amounts to a serious violation of the Delhi School Education Act and Rules (DSEAR). Officials warned that such arrangements could delay emergency response and expose children to additional risks.

The Directorate of Education has now asked the school to submit a detailed explanation addressing all concerns raised in the notice. Authorities made it clear that failure to provide a satisfactory response could lead to cancellation of the school's recognition and further legal action against responsible officials.

The department also underlined that all recognised schools are legally responsible for maintaining student safety, proper infrastructure and effective supervision under DSEAR regulations. Administrative authorities can also face accountability if negligence is established during the investigation.

The incident has sparked concern among parents across Delhi, with many questioning the safety standards and monitoring systems in schools handling young children. Education officials said the strict action in this case should serve as a warning to institutions ignoring security protocols and child protection measures.
