Delhi Honeytrap: Man Kidnapped After Dating App Meet, Forced to Transfer ₹7 Lakh

A casual plan to meet someone from a dating app turned into a terrifying ordeal for a 34-year-old man in South Delhi, who was allegedly kidnapped, assaulted and forced to transfer nearly ₹7 lakh by a group operating a honeytrap scheme. Delhi Police have arrested five suspects, including a 20-year-old woman accused of luring the victim to the meeting spot.

According to investigators, the incident unfolded on Tuesday evening when the victim went to Nehru Place after fixing a meeting with a woman he had connected with on a dating platform. Police say the meeting was allegedly arranged by Harleen Kaur, also known as Jenny.

Instead of a date, the man allegedly encountered a group waiting nearby. Around 7 pm, two cars reportedly pulled up and three men forced him into one of the vehicles. During the alleged abduction, the victim was beaten and choked, and he briefly lost consciousness, police said.

Investigators say the suspects then forced the man to transfer money through several methods, including UPI transactions, ATM withdrawals and credit card payments. In total, nearly ₹7 lakh was allegedly taken from him.

The group allegedly drove the victim around different areas of South Delhi and Gurugram throughout the night before leaving him near Nehru Place the next morning.

After the man approached police, officers traced the suspects by analysing the digital trail left by the transactions. Details from UPI transfers, ATM withdrawals and credit card activity helped investigators identify bank accounts and mobile numbers linked to the accused.

Police have arrested five people in connection with the case - Harleen Kaur alias Jenny, Nabjot, a gym and martial arts trainer; Sanjay alias Joey, a veterinary student; Rishabh, a cab driver; and Sahil Chauhan.

Officials say the investigation has also revealed that the group may have targeted others using the same method. Police suspect at least two more victims, including a doctor, may have been robbed in similar honeytrap incidents.

The case remains under investigation as officers examine CCTV footage and electronic evidence to determine whether more people were targeted through the alleged dating app scam.
