Delhi Building Collapse Near Saket Metro Station Kills 4; CM Rekha Orders Action Against Illegal Structures

A five-storey building collapse near Saket Metro Station in Delhi has killed 4 people so far. Delhi CM Rekha Gupta reached the spot, reviewed rescue work and met affected families. Gupta ordered strict legal action against everyone found responsible, including officials and owners of illegal structures linked to the Delhi building collapse.

Officials said the first call to Delhi Fire Services came at 7:44 p.m. on 30 May. The building stood on Western Marg and early reports did not reveal the full scale of the disaster. Once the extent of the Delhi building collapse became clear, senior administration teams rushed to the area with emergency units.

Delhi building collapse rescue operation and emergency response

Rescue teams have been working through the night without any break at the accident site. Heavy JCB machines are clearing concrete and twisted metal to reach trapped people. Rekha Gupta said every effort is being made to pull survivors out safely from the Delhi building collapse debris.

To speed up the mission, a special team of doctors has been sent under the rubble. This team is giving on-the-spot treatment to those located alive. Agencies including the National Disaster Response Force, Delhi Fire Services, DDMA, MCD, Civil Defence and CATS ambulance are coordinating efforts at the Delhi building collapse location.

Eight injured people pulled out from the ruins were taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre. A senior police officer said 2 patients are in serious condition in the ICU. Three others are admitted in the general ward, while 3 injured people were discharged after first aid from the Delhi building collapse incident.

Officials said the damaged building mainly housed student PG accommodation, a mess and coaching centres. Because of this mix, the premises usually had a large number of young people present. The structure that suffered the Delhi building collapse had become a busy point in this part of Saket.

Speaking to the media about the Delhi building collapse, Gupta stated, "यह हादसा बेहद दुखद है और हमारी प्राथमिकता हर नागरिक की जान बचाना है। लेकिन इसके साथ ही, इस तरह की जितनी भी अवैध इमारतें (Unauthorised Buildings) बनाई गई हैं, उनके खिलाफ बेहद कड़ी कार्रवाई की जाएगी। सिर्फ इतना ही नहीं, जिन सरकारी अधिकारियों की नाक के नीचे यह अवैध कंस्ट्रक्शन चल रहा था, उन्हें भी चिन्हित कर सख्त से सख्त सजा दी जाएगी।"
