CM Rekha Gupta Launches Modern Gaushala Drive, 10 Delhi Centres in First Phase

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a major initiative to strengthen cow protection and improve gaushala infrastructure in the national capital. At the Chief Minister Jan Seva Sadan, lease extension agreement certificates were handed over to Delhi's gaushalas, and financial assistance was also provided for setting up biogas infrastructure.

In the first phase of the programme, the government will focus on 10 modern gaushalas, where proper care, protection and development of abandoned cows will be ensured.

10 Gaushalas to Be Modernised in First Phase

The Delhi government said the first phase of the initiative will prioritise 10 gaushalas, with a focus on improving conditions for stray and abandoned cows.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that under the scheme, special emphasis will be placed on modernising these 10 gaushalas. She said the animals will be provided with better food, proper treatment facilities and clean, hygienic shelters.

She said, "Today, at the Chief Minister Jan Seva Sadan, in order to strengthen our commitment towards the service and protection of Mother Cow, lease extension agreement certificates were provided to Delhi's gaushalas, and financial assistance was also given by Chief Minister Mrs Rekha Gupta for establishing biogas infrastructure."

Lease Extension Certificates and Financial Assistance Distributed

During the event, the government formally handed over lease extension certificates to gaushalas in Delhi, providing them with administrative support and greater stability for future operations.

At the same time, financial support was extended to help establish biogas infrastructure, signalling the government's intention to combine traditional cow protection efforts with modern sustainability measures.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening gaushalas not only as shelters for cattle, but also as centres that can contribute to clean energy generation and better waste management.

Biogas Infrastructure to Turn Cow Dung Into Energy

As part of the modernisation drive, the government plans to set up systems to produce biogas from cow dung in gaushalas.

According to the Chief Minister, the arrangement will help create new energy alternatives while also supporting environmental protection. The move is expected to improve waste utilisation and promote cleaner surroundings.

Rekha Gupta said cow protection is not only connected to religious faith, but is also deeply linked to India's culture and the environment. She said these factors are being kept in mind while modernising the gaushalas and improving care for stray cattle.

Plan to Expand Facilities to 40 Gaushalas

The Chief Minister said the campaign reflects a larger vision rooted in compassion, cultural values and cleanliness.

She said, "This is an extension of our cultural consciousness and compassion. According to the set target, soon 40 gaushalas will be equipped with all facilities, and this campaign of service, energy from cow dung and cleanliness will be expanded on a wider scale."

The Delhi government has set a target to eventually equip 40 gaushalas with modern facilities. The broader plan includes improving cattle care services, creating energy from cow dung and strengthening sanitation measures.

The initiative is being presented as a blend of animal welfare, environmental responsibility and cultural commitment, with the government aiming to make gaushalas more modern and self-sustaining in the coming months.
