Sharad Pawar Latest Health Update: NCP Founder Responding Well, Says Hospital

Sharad Pawar, the veteran politician and president of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction), is responding to treatment well, the doctor who is treating him at Pune's Ruby Hall Clinic said on Tuesday.

Pawar was admitted to Pune's Ruby Hall Clinic on Monday evening after experiencing chest congestion. The 85‑year‑old Rajya Sabha member arrived at the hospital around 4 p.m., accompanied by his wife Pratibha Pawar, daughter and parliamentarian Supriya Sule, son‑in‑law Sadanand Sule, and grandnephew Rohit Pawar. His sudden hospitalization drew immediate public attention, given his stature in Indian politics and his active schedule despite his age.

Dr Simon Grant, Physician and Trustee, Ruby Hall Clinic issued a statement reassuring that Pawar's condition is stable. He confirmed that Pawar's vital parameters are within normal limits and that his overall clinical condition is steadily improving.

The mild discomfort noted at the time of admission has eased with ongoing medical management. As a precautionary measure, however, he continues to remain under observation. Dr. Grant emphasized that Pawar's treatment is being carried out strictly in accordance with the hospital's established medical protocols, with all investigations closely monitored. Decisions regarding further care will be taken based on his clinical progress.

Dr. Abhijeet Lodha, who is directly treating Pawar, added that preliminary examinations have been completed and there is no cause for concern at present. Pawar's oxygen levels and heart rate are normal, and doctors attribute his fatigue to continuous travel and public engagements over the past several days. The hospital indicated that he may be kept under observation for at least a day to ensure his recovery remains on track.

Supriya Sule, Pawar's daughter and a prominent political figure herself, took to social media to update supporters. In her tweet, she explained that her father had developed chest congestion and would require a five‑day course of antibiotics.

She reassured well‑wishers that all other vital parameters were normal and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support. "Thank you all for your good wishes and constant support. A heartfelt thank you to all the doctors from the bottom of my heart," she wrote.
