Petrol pumps in Kolhapur are suspending retail fuel sales every night from 9 pm to 6 am. The decision aims to control heavy rush and panic buying that began recently. Operators say the restricted hours are needed to handle crowds and manage limited fuel supplies.

Rationing continues during operating hours, with strict purchase limits at all outlets. Two-wheeler users can buy fuel only up to Rs 200 per visit. Cars and three-wheelers are capped at Rs 2,000, as dealers attempt to stretch available stocks across the city.

Even with these curbs, many pumps across Kolhapur stayed closed on Friday. Stations that opened reported long lines from early morning. Waiting time has eased slightly compared with earlier days. Motorists, however, still spend around 30 to 60 minutes in queues before refuelling.

District collector Amol Yedge has also acted against bulk buying of fuel in the district. An order now bans sales in containers, cans and bottles. Petrol pumps are enforcing this strictly. Officials report that blocking bulk purchases has cut some waiting time and reduced pressure on outlets.
