West Bengal: Siliguri Group Clash Over Cricket Match Triggers Police Action, Area Tense
A violent confrontation erupted between two groups in Siliguri's Bagracote area on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, following a dispute linked to a local cricket tournament. The altercation quickly escalated into stone pelting, leading to chaos and unrest in the locality.
Several vehicles were damaged in the violence, with windows smashed as tensions ran high. When police and security personnel arrived at the scene to control the situation, they too were targeted by the crowd and pelted with stones, further intensifying the disorder.

In response, authorities deployed additional police forces to the area to restore law and order. While no injuries have been reported so far, the situation remains tense and volatile. Security personnel are on high alert to prevent any further escalation.
This incident underscores the recurring challenges authorities face in managing large public gatherings and community sports events in the region, especially when emotions run high.
Law enforcement is currently monitoring the situation closely and has initiated an investigation to identify those involved in the clash. As of now, no arrests have been confirmed, and no official statement has been released regarding the root cause of the dispute.
More details are awaited as the situation develops.
