Bomb Scare On Kolkata-Shillong IndiGo Flight At Kolkata Airport

A plane of a private airline was taken to the isolation bay at the Kolkata airport on Saturday for a thorough security check following a bomb threat, according to ANI.

In a statement to the ANI, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata Airport Director said, "Bomb scare in Kolkata to Shillong IndiGo 6E3074, which was scheduled to depart at 9:15 AM, from Kolkata Airport.

The aircraft has been moved to the isolation bay. During boarding, crew members found a piece of paper inside the aircraft's toilet compartment, which stated that there was a bomb inside the aircraft. Immediately afterwards, passengers were removed from the aircraft. Checking process is going on."

Earlier, in May 2025, a hoax call targeted an IndiGo flight (6E5227) to Mumbai, prompting deboarding of 195 passengers and bomb squad inspection at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.

In November 2025, IndiGo received digital bomb threats for flights at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram airports, triggering heightened security checks declared as hoaxes. Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport faced multiple threats, including calls in July 2025 and May 2025 warning of explosions, with searches finding nothing suspicious.

Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport was part of the November 2025 multi-airport alerts and received hoax emails in September 2025 alongside other sites like Jammu and Amritsar. An Air India Express flight from Mumbai to Varanasi also faced a mid-air bomb threat in November 2025, leading to evacuation after landing. In January 2026, an IndiGo flight from Kuwait to Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad due to a bomb threat note, confirmed as a hoax.
