World's Busiest Dubai Airports Halt Operations Amid Explosions and Rising Gulf Tensions

Dubai International Airport, the world's busiest gateway, fell eerily silent on Saturday as all flights were suspended indefinitely, leaving thousands of passengers stranded. The closure came in the wake of a sudden wave of Iranian missile attacks across Gulf states, escalating the conflict sparked by US-Israel strikes on Iran earlier that day.

Inside DXB and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), travelers were caught off guard. Videos from the terminals show long lines of bewildered passengers, luggage piled high, and anxious families waiting for news about canceled or diverted flights. Airlines, including Emirates, urged travelers not to come to the airport and to check online for updates as airspace closures rippled across the region.

The missile attacks shook Gulf capitals from Abu Dhabi to Riyadh, with residents reporting deafening blasts and streaks of fire across the night sky. UAE air defenses intercepted several incoming projectiles, but debris from one strike reportedly killed at least one civilian in Abu Dhabi. Strategic US bases - including Al Dhafra Air Base, Al Udeid in Qatar, and the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain - were targeted, forcing military personnel to seek shelter as smoke plumes rose above the installations.
