Passenger Aircraft Wrecked In Bushehr Attack As US-Israel Launch Coordinated Missile And Air Assault

An Iranian passenger aircraft parked at Bushehr airport was destroyed during a wave of coordinated US-Israeli military strikes, according to Iranian media reports on Tuesday. The incident marks a dramatic escalation in hostilities that have already claimed the life of Iran's Supreme Leader and triggered retaliatory missile and drone attacks across West Asia.

Strikes Hit Airports And Strategic Installations

Iranian news outlets reported that a civilian aircraft was struck while stationed on the ground at Bushehr airport. The development came amid a broader offensive targeting key Iranian military and strategic locations.

The Mehr News Agency stated that the Mehrabad Airport in Tehran was also targeted. The agency published images showing thick grey smoke rising near what appeared to be a runway. It said, "The American-Zionist terrorists attacked the area around the Mehrabad airport" in the capital's west.

The strikes reportedly focused on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps command centres, missile infrastructure, air defence systems and leadership compounds. The coordinated operation followed the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in a direct strike on his compound in central Tehran on the first day of the offensive.

Months Of Planning And High-Tech Warfare

Media reports indicated that the operation had been in preparation for months. Intelligence efforts allegedly included hacking traffic surveillance systems to track Khamenei's convoy and confirm his precise location before the strike.

US forces, alongside Israel, launched ballistic missiles including the Tomahawk from warships positioned in the Persian Gulf. Air strikes were carried out using advanced fifth generation stealth fighters such as the F-22 Raptor and the F-35 Lightning II.

Reacting to reports of Khamenei's death, former US President Donald Trump declared, "I got him before he got me" when told of the outcome.

Iran Retaliates With Missiles And Drones

Tehran responded swiftly with a barrage of missiles and suicide UAV attacks. Its low-cost Shahed drone took centre stage in the retaliation, striking targets in Israel and American military bases. Iranian projectiles were also reported to have hit civilian buildings in neighbouring Gulf nations.

Iran escalated its rhetoric against Washington, warning of further consequences. Missile exchanges continued late into Tuesday, with several Gulf countries reporting impacts.

The intensifying conflict has raised fears of a broader regional war that could destabilise West Asia. Concerns have sharpened after Iran shut down the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime corridor through which roughly 20 million barrels of crude oil pass each day. Energy markets remain on edge as global supply chains brace for potential disruption.
