Donald Trump Raises Worldwide Tariffs From 10% To 15%, Signals Aggressive Trade Push And More Duties Ahead

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that global tariffs on imported items will increase from 10% to 15% on an immediate basis.

Trump said that the increase in tariff rates resulting from decades of unfair trading practices by most countries against the U.S., that had gone unaddressed will result in more tariffs being imposed in the future.

Change in Legal Authority and Decision Making Process Following Argument Before the Federal Courts

The increase in global tariffs from 10% to 15% is also a result of amending previous rulings issued against President Trump relative to various trade issues via the Federal Courts and reversing these past rulings; as a result, the Trump administration will now utilise newly defined or "legally tested" authorities to continue using tariffs.

According to spokespersons for the Trump administration, future tariff announcements will be forthcoming as the administration continues to review and adjust trade policy and its import policies in favour U.S. manufacturers.

Specifically, the new global tariff will establish a 15% tariff for all imported goods and services on a global basis.
