China Backs Iran As Wang Yi Reaffirms Support For Its Sovereignty & Territorial Integrity Amid Rising Tension

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on March 2, 2026, as tensions continued to grow in the Middle East.

Chinese Ambassador Shares Key Message

In his post, Ambassador Xu said that China supports Iran in protecting its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and national dignity. He also stated that China supports Iran in defending its lawful rights and interests.

The post further mentioned that China has urged the United States and Israel to immediately stop military operations. According to China, ending military action is necessary to prevent the situation from worsening and spreading across the entire Middle East.

Iran's View on the Current Situation

During the call, Araghchi explained Iran's position. He said that the United States had taken military action against Iran again while negotiations between the two countries were still ongoing.

He claimed that recent talks had shown positive progress. However, he described the U.S. action as a violation of international law and said it had crossed Iran's "red line." According to him, Iran feels it has no option but to defend itself.

Araghchi also said that Iran appreciates China's public support for fairness and justice. He expressed hope that China would continue to play an active role in reducing tensions in the region.
