Ayatollah Khamenei Killed? Iranian Media Confirms; 40-Day Mourning Announced

Iran's state television has claimed that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in recent strikes. According to Iranian media reports, Khamenei died in the early hours of Saturday. The government has also announced 40 days of national mourning following the reported killing.

Earlier reports had suggested that his body was recovered after alleged joint Israeli-US strikes, even though Tehran had not initially confirmed his death.

His last post gives criptic hint where he writes: "In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful."

He added, "Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah. Some of them have fulfilled their vow (through martyrdom), and some are still waiting, and they have never changed in the least."

The above post translates to : "In the revered name of Haider (peace be upon him)."

Reports of Strike on Tehran Compound

Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 reported that a photograph of Khamenei's body was shown to US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Public broadcaster Kan reported that senior Israeli officials had been informed of Khamenei's "elimination" and that his body was recovered from the rubble of his compound in Tehran.

Iran's National Security Council reportedly stated that Khamenei's killing "will be the launchpad for a great uprising against the tyrants."

Other Senior Leaders Reported Killed

Reports have also claimed that several members of Khamenei's family were killed in the strikes that began on Saturday morning, including his daughter, grandchild, daughter-in-law and son-in-law.

Iran's Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Mohammad Pakpour were also reported killed in the same attacks.

Trump's Full Statement

President Donald Trump posted a strong message on Truth Social. He wrote:
"Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead. This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS. He was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do. This is the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their Country. We are hearing that many of their IRGC, Military, and other Security and Police Forces, no longer want to fight, and are looking for Immunity from us.

As I said last night, 'Now they can have Immunity, later they only get Death!' Hopefully, the IRGC and Police will peacefully merge with the Iranian Patriots, and work together as a unit to bring back the Country to the Greatness it deserves. That process should soon be starting in that, not only the death of Khamenei but the Country has been, in only one day, very much destroyed and, even, obliterated. The heavy and pinpoint bombing, however, will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD! Thank you for your attention to this matter."

Earlier, Trump had also said:

"A short time ago, the United States military began major combat operations in Iran. Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very hard, terrible people. Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas, and our allies throughout the world..."

He further added:

"Short time ago, the US military began major combat operation in Iran. Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime."

And warned:

"Terrible and malicious people. Iran must not have nuclear weapons. Never. This regime will learn that it must not challenge American military power...We're going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground. It will be totally, again, obliterated. We're going to annihilate their Navy."

Netanyahu's Statement

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video statement:
"This morning we destroyed the compound of the tyrant Khamenei."
He added:

"For more than 30 years Khamenei had dispatched terrorism across the world, made his own people miserable, and worked constantly and tirelessly on a program to annihilate the state of Israel."

Netanyahu further stated:

"There are many signs that this tyrant is no longer. This morning we eliminated senior officials in the ayatollahs' regime, Revolutionary Guards commanders, senior figures in the nuclear programme - and we will continue. In the next few days, we will hit thousands more targets of the terror regime."

If officially confirmed by Tehran, the reported killing of Iran's Supreme Leader would mark one of the most dramatic developments in recent Middle East history.
