Unseasonal rainfall: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath orders crop surveys and swift farmer compensation

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed district officials to contact farmers affected by unseasonal rainfall and assess crop damage immediately. District magistrates must report impacts, while revenue and agriculture departments and insurance companies will run joint surveys. The state has been told to issue compensation for human or livestock loss and injuries within 24 hours.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday asked officials to support farmers hit by persistent unseasonal rain. Adityanath ordered quick action on complaints and directed teams to reduce losses. The chief minister also warned that delays or carelessness in relief work would not be accepted.

According to an official statement, Adityanath requested district magistrates to send reports on the latest rain spell. The instruction covered several districts that saw fresh showers. Adityanath said officials must track damage to standing and harvested crops and address farmers’ issues without waiting.

Adityanath told officers to stay alert and begin an immediate review of crop losses. The revenue and agriculture departments must work with insurance companies for field checks. The teams were asked to complete joint surveys and submit reports fast. The purpose is to enable early compensation for affected farmers.

The chief minister said help must reach people quickly during difficult conditions. Adityanath added that continuous rainfall is harming crops that are still in fields. District officials were told to remain on the ground and confirm facts directly. Adityanath also insisted that relief should not be held up at any level.

Adityanath directed that compensation for deaths, injuries, or livestock loss must be paid within 24 hours. The statement said Adityanath cautioned officials against any negligence. Adityanath also asked officers to make every possible effort to limit the weather’s effect on farmers and rural families.

Farmers were advised to inform the local administration about crop damage. Farmers who insured crops can file complaints within 72 hours. The toll-free number is 14447. The statement said harvested crops kept in fields stay covered under insurance for up to 14 days.

Several districts recorded rainfall on Saturday, the weather department said. Lucknow logged a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius, which was slightly below normal. The minimum was 22.2 degrees Celsius, above normal. Lucknow received 16 mm of rain during the day.

The weather office predicted rain or thundershowers in Lucknow and nearby areas on Saturday night. It also forecast a partly cloudy sky on Sunday. Temperatures may stay near 33 degrees Celsius for the maximum. The minimum may remain close to 20 degrees Celsius.

The state forecast said rain or thundershowers were very likely at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh. It also carried a warning for thunderstorms with lightning in eastern parts. Rainfall was also reported in Kanpur at 21.4 mm and in Jhansi at 6.3 mm, officials said.
