UP Government Plans to Recruit 1.5 Lakh Employees in 2026, Biggest Annual Intake Yet

The Uttar Pradesh government plans to recruit 1.5 lakh people in 2026, aiming to touch 10 lakh government jobs over 10 years. An official statement said this recruitment drive is expected to be the largest annual intake of government employees in the state’s history.

The statement said the Uttar Pradesh government has already given over 8.5 lakh jobs in the last 8.5 years. It added that all these appointments were made through a transparent and fair selection process, which the government intends to continue for the 2026 intake.

After reviewing vacancies across departments, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved the recruitment of 1.5 lakh government posts for the coming year. The biggest share will go to the police and education departments, with 50,000 posts each, followed by 20,000 positions in the revenue department.

Additional Uttar Pradesh government jobs 2026 recruitment will cover housing development, health, child development, nutrition and prisons, the statement said. It added, "With this, the state government is set to create a record by providing the highest number of government jobs in a single year," highlighting the scale of the planned drive.

According to the statement, Yogi Adityanath recently asked officials to provide department-wise vacancy details so recruitment could move faster. Recruitment advertisements are in the final preparation stage, and some departments have already started initial processes for hiring against sanctioned posts.

The statement said that by 2026, the Uttar Pradesh government will complete its goal of 10 lakh government jobs in 10 years, becoming the first administration in the state to reach such a figure. Officials described the 2026 intake as a key step towards meeting that long-term employment target.
